Ottumwa Park Campground

Great overnight stop. Lots of trees, shade, nice people. Great water, electricity. 

We stayed 2 nights. Sites were tight  but doable for our 38 ft. Class A. Great walking path and play grounds. There are 3 fishing ponds which are nice to look at.it is first come first serve.

Tried to stay the night but it was shut. 

We stay here every year.  We have had good relationships with the current hosts and several campground hosts before them.

The city park itself is spacious and beautiful with large grassy areas, a small lake, a picnic area and a playground.

The RV park is very old,  cramped, and has had no improvements during the 20 years we have been coming here.  Many of the spaces are narrow and have little or no room for slides. Most of the spaces are in an area with old trees.  Nice for shade.  However, I have experienced several wind storms that have brought down massive limbs that have substantially damaged or destroyed RVs.  The city really needs to do a better job of removing tree limbs and taking down old trees.

There are no sites that are FHU.  There is a dump station.  The city has been asked many times to put in sewers to at least some of the RV sites.  The sewer line runs near the RV area, but so far there has been no progress.

The showers and restrooms are decades old and really look like it. Although kept clean by the park hosts, the entire shower house really needs to be torn down amd rebuilt. 

This year it appears that the Wi-Fi has been substantially improved.

Stayed one night. Staff was friendly. Paid $17. Sites level but a little tight for pulling in and out. Very pretty park setting with lots of birds.

Excellent proximity to River, downtown and shopping. Showers are old but clean. Price was great $17.00/day for fill hook ups. Staff was helpful.

We have camped at the Ottumwa park.. Depends on who is the park host as to the service you get.  Most sites are undeveloped gravel.  When it rains you have water standing in your site and large mud holes. They have installed some concrete pads, however they are so small a big rig is difficult to park on them. The electrical service is old and you keep tripping out your breakers. There is no sewer hookups, even though they gave a major sewer pipe running thru the campground.
Price per night is $15.00 for water and electric. Shower house is old. Provides no place to hang up your clothes while you take a shower. 
Word of caution. Do not camp there during the "race for the cure". They shut the entire campground down. You are locked out till late afternoon or you are locked in till late afternoon. They could hold the race some where else.
