Margaret MacNider Park

This is a cool campground.  There's a water park next door (seasonal) and it's in a very bike-able town.  Proximity to some Frank Lloyd Wright buildings is a big plus.

However, the sites are laid out poorly.  My concrete pad was nowhere near level and the sewer connection was 8-10" higher than the surrounding ground (and therefore significantly higher than my mid-dump RV.  I ended up not using the full hookup and just dumping at the dump station on the way out.  Could've saved some money if I knew beforehand and just got a water+electric site instead!

What a nice well manicured park. Very clean, quiet and great amenities. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely will stay here again if I am in the area. The price per night is awesome.

Nice city park with FHU, W/E and tent sites.  First come, first served.  I stayed in a W/E site for $19 (tax included). The shower house is huge and doubles as a storm shelter.  Dump station near exit.  No fresh water at dump station as it’s at each site.  
 
Nice park across the river.  Miles of trails to bike.  I rode to the Lime Creek Nature Center.  It’s got a neat nature center with windows looking out over bird feeders and a water feature.  Lots of trails (mowed fields) around the center. 

Very clean city park with concrete pads, some shaded, at FHU sites.  Good water and electric.  Website said $26 for FHU, but now they want $28.  Website says $17 for W/E only, but probably more now.  

Pulled in for an overnight stay and we’re overwhelmed with setting. We should have stayed one more night The manager get could not have been more helpful and friendly. Would go out of our way to stay again 

We have a 42 foot Class A RV and stayed at site A4. Loved the clean level concrete slab. Bathroom's are a little dated but clean. Pickleball courts and swimming pool are very close to RV park

FHU sites with concrete pads were available, but mostly sunny and quite crowded. Chose a water/electric site for the shade and seclusion. Adjacent pool/water park was closed due to Covid-19. Office staff were very pleasant, friendly, and exceptionally accommodating. The park was not immaculate, by any means, but pleasant enough. And right in town, which allowed for a couple of nice bike rides. Mason City is quite a classy town! Particularly enjoyed the town center, with two Frank Lloyd Wright structures, one of which we toured. Very nice. One concern: East Park, just across the Winnebago River from the campground served by a very nice walking bridge, appears in serious decline. Lawns were ragged, weeds taking over, asphalt broken. Didn't feel safe walking there at night. While technically separate from the campground, it's proximity detracted somewhat from our stay. Dump station on the way out. Did not use restrooms/showers.

The only negative I have is the tight spots. They designed it for quantity, not roomy sites. Beyond that it has level gravel sites with water and 30 amp hookups and paved full hook up sites. We have stayed in B3 many times. It is partial hookup back in site near the shower/restroom/laundry/storm shelter facility.  Some of the best showers in any public park. Dump station at exit.  Lots of shady mature trees. Swimming pool, walking trails and beautiful park within walking distance.  Limited train noise. 

Mason City is wonderful and the MacNider Campground follows that pattern.  This CG is near everything except the noise of trains and highways.  I hear birds , that's it!  The CG  is within  walking distance of an amazing water park.   Bike trails go everywhere.  The  park has tennis courts used for pickleball (my favorite).  Tours of the  Frank Lloyd Wright  historic places nearby and are great.  Music Man Square should not be missed.  You definitely need to g o to  1910 Grille and the Quarry for food!!!

My wife and I retired this past October,after 7 years of managing one of the most beautiful, safe family friendly campgrounds that I have visited. If there would be a bad review, I promise you that it came from somebody who didn't follow the same rules all else abide by. Season opens April 10-October 15. Safe camping to all.

We were so pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and clean this park is. The host were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved this beautiful little city, so well cared for, we want to come back to explore more. 

This was a great place. Was clean bathrooms were very nice and very clean. Get a safety shelter in case there was a tornado. Very nice pool.

Awesome campground with very friendly and helpful hosts who bent over backwards to guide your stay in Mason City so it was a fun adventure as well as a welcome stay!  Clean bathrooms and shower house.  Fantastic aquatic center next door that keeps kids and adults alike entertained for hours.  We rode our bikes into town for dinner and for a tour around the cute neighborhood... there is a self-guided bike path hitting all the town's famous highlights.  We stayed an extra day to do laundry and enjoy the town.  Highly recommended!

This is a little gem. The hosts were sweet & put a cone in my space when I was at the store to ensure others coming in didn't grab my spot. Great walking paths nearby. Neighborhood with sidewalks & a nice walk into the old downtown. Showers & bathrooms are clean & nice & hosts are always looking to make improvements. Will def come back!

Loved this place. Couldn't ask a better spot to camp with kids. There is an aquatic park inside the property that you pay only $2 for the whole day or $1 half day if you buy in the campground office. The kids didn't want to leave at all. We had intentions to stay 1 night only and we kept adding 2 extra nights. The City is very charming and is very bike friendly-

Nice park. Nice people. Nice bathrooms. Nice price. Lots of shade. Hard to find but worth it. 

We loved this park. Great price. , excellent service, lots of clean large bathroom facilities.  Next door to a beautiful city park and pool ( which you can use half price)
