Island View campground

Park looked ok for a city park, but we pulled into a site, tried to hook up to electricity, but it didn’t work.  Checked several other sites and no electricity wither.  Meanwhile my wife returned from putting money in the pay station and said there was a sign that park was closed for the season. Nothing on their website (or RV Parky) indicated that they closed from Oct 1 thru May 1.  We drove out of our way specifically to stay at this place…frustrating. 

This is a city-run park, first come first serve and Virgil is a camper who looks after its maintenance. We were here at the beginning of May, still a bit chili in the evening, so he has a portable heater in the ladies bath room. Gorgeous park with a 5 mile biking trail around the lake.

This was a perfect stop with FHU and pull through sites. They had clean bathrooms and hot showers. One shower in each bathroom. Sites are beautifully kept, and they sell firewood. $25 for FHU, but it is first come, first serve and no reservations. In September, we had zero issues getting a site. When you arrive you put cash/check in the envelope they provide and slip it in the box. Easy peasy.

Easy access for big rigs. Long level pull through sites with full hook-ups. Adjacent to a 5 mile walking/cycling trail and an excellent park with Frisbee golf, pavillion, and great playground for the kids.
