Wapiti Campground

We were disappointed in the overall look and feel of the site. There are some nicer pitches nearer the river but the majority are in open area with no electricity or water. 
My main gripe with this site is that so many people light fires that don’t understand fire. The majority of people are just smoking out the campground. There was a haze of smoke hanging over the site last night being held there by the cooler evening air. A clean fire produces very little smoke. Luck of the draw if your van gets caught up in it.
We won’t be staying here again. Who needs a fire when it’s 31 degrees? 
The park wardens need to stamp on this, we come away to escape city air and instead find ourselves breathing even dirtier air. 

Unbelievable view, elk at playground in the morning. Very clean washrooms and showers, overall wonderful campground. Athabaskan River behind campground, with trails along side it.

Lots of space except for the electric site area which is basically a parking lot.  Interior roads are rough and a little tight for turning a big rig around.  Sani dump seemed too tight for my 40 ft and very busy so I skipped it.  My back in site was spacious but I had to do some tree trimming.

Pros- great locations to back track on icefields to the major falls, Jasper, and other trails close by like Valley of 5 Lakes, Maligne Lake, Beauvert Lake, Athabasca river etc. Very woodsy, dont have to share sites, unlimited fire wood but have to pay to have a fire, close to wildlife, friendly staff
Cons- showers are push button showers so turns off after 15 seconds every push, loud people when we were there

While the majority of sites have zero hookups (just two loops have electricity only - in other words you're likely boondocking), they are well spaced with lots of trees and shrubs to give good privacy.  Located just minutes from Jasper, it is very convenient.  A big plus is wildlife walking through the campground - including deer and bears.

It looked ok but it seems you need to reserve months in advance - even off season.  They sent us to the “overflow” camping 14kms north of Jasper but when we got there, there was no internet service with our provider... unlike @ Wapiti so we turned around and drove to Valemount where we found a beautiful RV park. 
Unfortunately with the new rules with reservations - it’s very difficult to get a space so unfortunately we would never stay in Jasper Park - only a day trek

Very large campground. There are hookups available on some sort of parking place. It's not very nice, but it was great for us and the kids because a large playground was near. Other sites (without hookups) looked nice and spacious with shade. It's also close to the river where you can walk and where there is a lot of wildlife.
