Trinidad Lake State Park

Beautiful campground. Only stayed one night for $37 for electric only plus extra $10 park fee. Had fairly level site #23 near bathhouse/laundry. Very clean & well maintained but had to pay extra for showers. Minimum 50 cents for 3 minutes (see photo uploaded).

We are a 38' fifth with a long bed dually. We've tried this park twice over the years. It's a beautiful area and fair price ($36 electric only), but dang is it narrow in the park. I definitely wouldn't want to navigate the park roads and back-in during peak season on a weekend. We're fulltimers, so pretty experienced with all kinds of situations, but both times our sites (Carpios Ridge) were long and looked decent on the map, but the roads throughout the campsites are incredibly narrow with ditches and giant rocks right off the edges, and the angles of the road often set you up opposite for how you want to be backing in the site. It was a PITA to back into, and took I don't even know how many corrections to get in and level. Our last site (#10) had a decent L-R tilt (need blocks) and a rear grade. We got in, and all was fine, but just be aware of these difficulties if you're over 30 or 35 feet, I'd say. The park roads getting to the campgrounds are also curvy and very narrow with guarded drops  (had to cut into the oncoming lane more than once), so again, not ideal for longer rigs during busy season. 

But we love state parks, so I'm sure we'll be back, haha. We did scope out site 22 at Carpios Ridge and that one looked easy for big rigs, so grab it if you can. I'm sure there's a few more. But otherwise, good luck. Most look tough. The staff at the center was very kind and said we can call during hours to switch sites if needed and available.

Beautiful views, great campsites; clean and quiet. The best we’ve had in three weeks of travel. 

We stayed here passing through going up to Colorado Springs. It was more beautiful than we had thought it would be very clean well run beautiful lake views. You cannot really get into the lake at all it’s more of a scenic campground. Do not get size 7 if you have a 32 foot RV. The site itself was the only one that we saw that wasn’t really very good for an RV. The rest of the sites are beautiful 53 and 55 have amazing lake views

We love our spot above the lake. #34 Spacious and with firepit and picknick table we felt like we had our own private place with a view! Only electricity but water is available on the streetside to fill up before you park.

We stayed here one night passing through. I read you must have a reservation, so I easily made one online. We arrived at 6pm (after office hours) and were unable to check in. The site was easy to locate and we got set up. We say a park ranger and stopped him to let him know and he was really nice and understanding. We only stayed one night in site 56 (back in with 50 amp no water). I would recommend site 50 or 48 those back up to an amazing view! There is also a playground here that mu kids really enjoyed. The park was also very clean. 

This is one of the Colorado state parks, that we have come to call the "have nots" state parks. We have found that Colorado, as most other states, have some really nice state parks, and some that seem to be just getting by. The campground itself, only has 4 full hook ups sites, one of which we had. Most sites are electric only sites, They have water and a dump station available. The offer paid showers, a small laundry room. some walking trails, a boat ramp, if you want to use the lake, and a group camping area. The interior roads are very tight with some challenging turns for a big rig. One plus here was the pinion pines were producing pine nuts while we were here, so we gathered a small bag full for roasting. Overall, our site was pretty good, but I had to use every leveling board that I had to almost get level, as the site was very unlevel. We would not stay here again if in the area.

Stayed 2 nights, great view, quiet, a great place to relax and enjoy nature. 

What a joke!  Pulled in to stay the night, was told could not stay without a reservation even though park was empty!  Would not have stayed anyway as nightly rate is $36 plus entry fee of $10 for $46 per night.  On top of that they want you to pay to take a shower!  Have these people gone crazy?

It's close to the lake shore.  Gravel roads, compose toilets, and  covered patio tables.  There was water available at the toilet. Generators good until 10pm. 

Was charged for the site and $7 for "day use?"

Really nice CO State Park with 50 amp electric hook-up. Our group had sites 45-47 and we had beautiful views of the lake down below. We got off I-25 at exit 13B but turned about 1/4 mile before campground entrance by mistake (at the Corp Of Engineer's Trinidad Lake sign) and ended up going across the dam in motorhomes towing....tough to find a place to turn around. So be sure the sign says campground entrance. 😊 

We stayed here one night. Stayed in north end RV. Spots are relatively level.  Sites have electricity   Only a few with full hookup and those are backin. Only 3 pull thrus in entire camp. They only have electricity. Nice trails for 1 to 4 mile hikes. Water is not easy to find here. Nowhere to fill up. Come with all the water you will need. Great views. Would come back in a minute. Will play mini golf 9 hole tomorrow. Unfortunately Nicklaus 18 course closed ( canyon)   Couldn't make it $

We spent one night here. It is very peaceful and well-kept. The site was level with a fire-ring and picnic table, but all I saw were back-in sites.  The north shore sites have views of the lake, however the trail is a little steep to get to any fishing spots. We didn't use the showers but restrooms are clean. We would return.

We were in site 50. We had beautiful views of the lake.  Sites are large and it was quiet.

Friendly staff,  mature trees and fantastic facilities. Will be back again 

Nice location. Not far from town and still very quiet. The water level is low but still very pretty. Bathroom and shower facilities are spotless and seem to be new. Looks like a lot of money had been put into the park. Sites are level and asphalt appears to be new. We would come again.

Hot in the summer, not mountain climate.  Not many trees, but lots are spaced well, lake was down and fishing was unproductive.  Might be better as spring or fall destination.  Not far out of town, so grocery trips are easy.
