Sun Outdoors Canyonlands Gateway

Stayed 2 nights in a dirt site. Trees intrude into site so you have to do trimming if you have a Class A or 5th wheel. Lots of bird droppings on the picnic table; seems our site was the only one that had the bird droppings on the picnic table. It is a very convenient location; easy access to Moab, Arches, Dead Horse. Gas station is at the site which is very convenient.

Helpful staff and clean facilities.  North of Moab in a less congested area.  Dark sky.  Would stay here again. 

Large, gravel, campground about 20 min north of Moab right off US-191 near the UT-313 entry to Canyonlands NP. There are several large pull-throughs, several small pull-throughs where you need to park your TV perpendicular to your TT, a few tent sites, and a few small cabins. There’s a small pool. The large pull throughs are large enough to allow you to sit outside comfortably, but there still is little privacy. Sites are fairly level. A few trees provide some shade. Bathhouses and laundry facility need attention (2 of the 5 washing machines, and 1 dryer, were broken). Bathhouses could be cleaner. Fuel station on-site is a plus. Great location, facility should be better for the price.

Beautiful area, clean showers and close to Arches. Slightly high priced.

Close to canyonlands and arches. Spots also close to neighbors. Great dark skies. Nice to have gas station on property. 

We paid $80 ngt but we paid the $40 lock fee to pic our spot.  As everyone mention the sites are pretty level however gravel. The location is north of moab town by 11 miles but across from the hwy to canyonlands and dead horse. The drive to arches was about 8 miles so it was ok.

You can tell they are trying to make improvements since sun outdoors bought up 3 of 4 rv campgrounds in the area. Nice warm pool and splash area for kids. 

I would stay here again but I learned. Most all the sites are tight like a koa. Except.....two rows on the east side of the laundry building and close to the pet area. They're much wider and have native vegetation between the sites giving you a little breathing room. So I'd pay the extra $40 ,lock fee and pic one of those sites.

One last thing. Don't count on the store. Sometimes open, sometimes not. And no consistency so get your supplies in town.

I didn't expect much, but they have good WiFi,  a pool, laundry, showers, and good RV sites (gravel, but mine was dead on level) with water and electric hookups. Worth the price, especially since the park just down the road wanted more for a whole lot less.

After making our reservations and paying the deposit, we were concerned after reading some of the negative reviews about this campground. To our pleasant surprise, it turned out to a wonderful place, very friendly and welcoming staff at the reception desk, very nice and clean facilities and RV spots with nice benches, a bbq, a tree and a grassy lawn in front of the RV spots. The spots are a bit small but nothing to complain about. 

It looked like there was a KOA closer to town that looked a bit better
Pros: if ur into 4x4 off roading this is the place for you, nice pool, good store with gas (much more expensive than in town), FHU
Cons: just a dirt lot, very short sites, don’t walk ur dog in the pet area due to the huge thorns, slightly unlevel, most of the washers were broke so we had to go in town which was expensive. 
As a side note, Do not try to come in early. They are strict to their 2pm check in. 

I booked this place because of it's proximity to Arches and Canyonlands. It was great for that. However, sites were too close unless you can afford  the high-end ones. Didn't use any of the amenities since we were gone most of the time. Thought it was pricey for what we got but maybe it's the going rate?  Would look elsewhere if ever back in this area.

Stayed here for 4 nights July 2021.  Gravel and native silty sand.  Not a spec of grass to be found.  Dogs will need feet coverings during the middle of the day.  The pool was refreshing but can get crowded with kids.  Had good luck with AT&T MIFI.  Was getting over 20mbs.  People leave dog poo all over the site.  You get what you pay for.  Stay at the Portal if you want something nicer.

Girl was not very nice when I made my reservation.  And made sure I knew I wouldn’t get my money back if I didn’t show up or changed my mind. After getting here now I know why. Not worth $70! All dirt and with the wind blowing it was nothing but a dust bowl.  Keep going, if I could have I WOULD.

The power here is unstable. When it is hot or the park is full it cannot support 50amp service. We had problems the entire time we were here. Our surge protector indicated the power was low at the pedestal.

We were traveling with our granddaughter. The sites were so small you had to get on another site to unhook your rig. It was extremely noisy. It is close to Arches , Canyonlands and Moab Giants. We will never stay here again! The water pressure was horrible.

Sites a little tight and short. As a result a lot of cars trucks and UTV are parked in the streets between the camping rows. Can make it difficult when pulling into site or leaving. Can be loud in morning and night due to utv coming and going. Bathrooms are clean. Laundry $2 a machine. 

We only needed to stay one night so it served it’s purpose. We didn’t like how tightly it’s laid out, we prefer more space for a longer stay. The bathrooms were nice and clean, the convenience store was well stocked, and there’s a Chevron on site. Staff was friendly. You can not see the Arches from the Park but they’re close by.

This was a great RV site. Great View!!  bathrooms/Laundry room are very clean. They also have a pool we didn’t use but looked clean. We unfortunately were close to the highway so we heard a lot of road noise. So the further from the road the better. Nice place, Happy traveling! 

Staff great, location to Arches and Canyonlands (Islands in the Sky District) great. Nice laundry facility. 

Since this is part of the Sun Resorts chain, it costs more (I'm guessing that's why).  I thought $75 a night was a bit stiff for a campground.  They did give us a little COVID safety pouch containing sanitizer and masks, lol. I guess that's why it cost so much! The lot was very dusty and inhabited mostly by ATV vacationers. This is a great place to stay if you are into that sort of thing. We stayed here while touring Arches and Canyonlands, so it was conveniently located close to both.  If you stay here, make sure to visit the town of Moab for some great local shops and eateries. 

First off they are charging.75 cents
H more for a gallon of diesel fuel than it is about 5 miles further down the road   Price 3.79 there  price in Moab 3.04

Stayed in the non-private section in row E. Sites are small and narrow.  Just fit my 36ft MH with parking by for toad behind.  Not enough room to open awning.  Hooks ups are at the front of the site not the back.  Next site‘s sewer connect accross from front door. Strange   Didn’t use restroom or splash pool. Close to Parks.  Staff friendly at check in. 
This is not a resort. 

I am puzzled by 2 things, else this would be a 5 star spot: 1) The bathrooms were not cleaned in the 3 days I was here; 2) I was assigned a spot in an empty row, a spot with zero shade. 3 spots had shade; I shrugged, set up assuming they were reserved. 2 sat empty the entire weekend, average temp 99--we were miserable in that heat--and I don't understand how whoever assigns sites would not have realized this. Other reviewers also note the friendly/helpful staff, primo bathroom layout, solid store/gas station. I would add the pool, dog yard and trails behind the campground really add.

Good facilities etc and good site. They charged us $60 as we only needed one night and the minimum stay was two nights. 

Nice campground but "resort" might be a stretch.  No complaints, people were good about "quiet time" and sites were nice and clean.  Would stay here again.

  Friendly staff and a nice appearing RV park.   What ruined my stay here were all the noisy ATV vehicles tearing through the park from 6:30 am until 10 pm even though park rules prohibit it. There were also several ATV'ers repairing and maintaining their toys which is also against the stated rules.  The staff seemed to avoid enforcing any rules--- evidently money talks.  There is an ATV trail that leads from the park so I suppose that' what drew all the ATV 's here.  I paid $69. per night for full hookups.  Also very high price for fuel and items in the park store.  Very low water pressure at my site, and for a few hours there was no pressure at all.

We stayed 6 days.  Our site was great.  We has a view of Arches National Park and the LaSal Mountains.   The staff was friendly and helpful.   The utilities were excellent.  The internet always worked.  The bathroom/laundry has no provision for the handicapped.   The store charges movie theater prices for their goods.   Propane was 3.69 per gallon.  The gas station sells gas for 50 cents more per gallon than the stations in Moab.   I asked one of the staff about the gas prices.  They said that the gas prices at the park had not been changed since they had been there.    The price gouging turned a 5 into a 2.

Park was ok. Easy access just outside of Arches and Moab. Sites were mostly level, full hook up with cable. Pool (very small) and in general nice area with fuel station on site. (Fuel was at least $1 that down the road a few miles.) The park is located right on the highway so there is some noise. The biggest drawback is the lack of shade. You are in the middle of the desert, but there was zero shade! 

There are other parks located in Moab with shade, including two others owned by the same company. I would consider other parks in the future due to lack of shade and cost. 

This park is closest to Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point State Parks. Sites are narrow without much shade but who hangs around the campground when there national parks nearby. We arrived during a busy week but the staff were great fitting us in and loaning us a 50 to 30. Amp connector as only 50 amp sites were avail. Bathroom and showers were very old and poorly lite. Would not consider this a "resort" even though there was a pool.

Is a nice view, not a great view, worth premium price? WiFi is useless. No cable. Modest facilities. Close to Arches NP & Canyon Lands. Ten miles from Moab. Will not stay here again.

This is actually a pretty nice park. Great location for off roading. But it's 2013 and we live in a connected world.  We were told they "don't even charge for the Internet" because it's so bad.  Upwardly mobile people with expensive RV's and ATV's want to have access.  There is no excuse not to have good Internet and wifi, and should be included in any stay. Not free because it sucks.
Other than that one complaint,  we were pretty happy here. 

If you are there for riding ohv or motorcycle, then this may be for you... otherwise you may want to avoid this.  Sites are VERY tight.  I could barely fit our 34 ft 5th wheel without the tow vehicle.  Management is little concerned about your concerns.  Fuel is available but prices are way jacked up.  Diesel was priced at 4.59 while locally in Moan it was priced at 3.89.  A helluva mark up.... but they think they have a captive audience!
