Navy Recreation Center Solomons

Very nice place.  We stayed two weeks, there are several things to do such as swimming in pools or at the beach on the river, miniature golf,  driving range, video arcade.  Power worked fine as well as water.  Make sure you have the rubber adapter for the sewer hook up.  We paid for full hook up, they do have several sites with just electric and water and a lot of tent camping sites.  It was good to see the boy scouts out camping over both weekends we were there.  Park maintenance needs to do a better job and keeping the grass mowed down.  Several folks are full timers and we're cutting their own grass.

Spot: C-28. Traveled in a 38' Class A Motorhome.

Booking: Booked by phone but now they are now on Recreation.gov. (Much easier to book online now.)
Drive in: Came from the South. 301 to 234 to 4. (A few roundabouts on 234, but we made it.)
Interior roads: Paved and relatively easy to navigate. A couple of tight places on the way out for our sized rig. 
Space size:Average. F-section sites are more spread out. Stay out of G. They are packed on top of each other. 
Facilities: Good sized dog park, nice swimming pool, clean bathrooms, good playground, driving range, nature trail, beach on the river, picnic pavilions, and close to downtown.  A LOT TO DO!
Cleanliness: Overall clean campground. Well maintained. Some long term campers, but a good mix of both.
Staff: Check in was easy. 
Activities: No formal planned activities, but plenty of amenities to keep you busy. 
Food: Try the Tiki Bar downtown Solomons or Ruddy Duck Brewery and Grill.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Although we wished we went while the pool was open and for longer than just two nights because there is plenty to do!

Kind if a weird place with some unauthorized full time residents that look a bit trashy. Some sites are beautiful and wide, others are cramped, so close it’s hard to tell where you are supposed to go. Level, hit or miss. Location is great. Swimming pools and beach. Renting a boat locally and picking up the fam at the marina, easy win. Front desk staff are usually not very good and COVID made it worse. Good luck getting somebody to answer a phone. Staff at the activity center though are pretty awesome. Always trying to do cool stuff, hay rides, smore night, etc. Town of Solomons Island is really great. Probably camped a total of 15 nights here 2017-2021. Book early for popular summer weeks/weekends. Should definitely check it out if you are in the greater DC area. 

We had such a nice time here c(gl)amping! Our friends made an impromptu visit to pick us up at the marina on their pontoon boat. Great, relaxing, quiet, friendly place. Didn't want to leave. Only live 20 min away, however it felt like we were a world away. Great respite! 

We haven't been here since 2007, and it's better than I remembered it!  back then I was with the Scouts on only saw a small part of the place.  Now thiat I'm back with an RV (and not shepherding a group of teeneage boys) I get to see the real expance of this area.  Calling it an RV park does NOT do it justice!  how about 2 adult pools and a kiddine pool, a beach with lifegards, tennis courts, basketball, soccar field, fishing pier, activity center and fitness center, miniature golf and a driving range?  Let's face it, if you're bored here, you would not be happy ANYwhere!  Yes, it's DoD only, and that means security is good! the sites are grass, back in, but rather level.  I didn't need any blocks at all.  We had a great two-night stay, and as it's not very far for us, we will be back next fall, after Labor day.  We had power and water, and there is a dump station located near the gate.

The base is great. Easy on/off from the road and walkable/bikeable to town of Solomons with the tiki bar and sergeants bbq.  On base there were mwr events for Halloween and there looks like lots of water activity at the multiple pools and beach.   For today's concerns,  there wigs WiFi everywhere which supports Amazon fire stick and laptop.  We will return!!
