Prairie Flower COE

Stayed here for one night, spacious sites with 50 Amp. Dump station and fresh water at the campground entrance. Nice lady at the office. Several loops to choose from, we were in loop B. Playground in the middle of each loop. Clean bathrooms and campground in general. Had an even site, leveling no problem. Would definitely stay here again. 

This was a beautiful campground, level concrete with picnic tables with a grill guard on it. Just a really nice place. Short walk to the lake. Water near by good power. Would definitely stay again. 

Closed for the year, but I was still able to make a reservation. It was just moved to another park 35 minutes away. Completely out of my way, not very convenient 

Prairie Flower COE - Polk City, Iowa. We stayed here for a week on our midwest tour. This is a very nice campground with mostly concrete slabs that are very wide and long. We had a lake view site, which is nice, but be aware that all the lake view sites are in direct sun, with no shade. The sites with shade do not have a lake view. The bathhouses are clean and in good repair. The sites are electric only. There are a few water spigots around the campground and at the one dump, which gets extremely busy in the mornings with all the 4 loops trying to check out at once. The town of Ankeny is only a few miles away, where you can find shopping and restaurants. We  would stay here again if in the area

Beautiful campground.  So clean.  Water access if you want or just relax.

I spent a week at Prairie Flower in site #175. Large level space with trees that provided shade in the afternoon.  The overall CG is a mix of shade and sun. The showers/restrooms are dated and show their age, but the water pressure/temperature was great. Most sites were well spaced and the interior roads were easy to navigate. Some sites might be tricky to back a large rig into.  While I was near a main road the noise was not very noticeable. The only negative to my experience is that the water/dump station was difficult to get into (had to make a full circle of other CG loops) and could only serve one trailer at a time.  I was happy that I already had a full water tank when I arrived (local CG for me at the time.) If Cherry Glen was not available I would gladly go back here. Very easy to get to Saylorville Lake and lots of shopping/dining available within 20 minutes in Ankeny.

Site 130 on the Dogbane loop has a very large, level concrete pad with electrical hookup. Shaded much of the day. It is right next to the Neil Smith biking trail. You can ride into Des Moines 11 miles or Ankeny 6 miles. Campground is well maintained with clean bathrooms and showers. If it had full hookups it would be 5 star. 

 We stayed in C72 with 34 ft Class A. Site was large and level. Great views. Private. Push-button showers but not bad. Clean. Highly recommend!

A particularly well maintained COE campground.  Very close to Des Moines so reservations are recommended, absolutely necessary on weekends.  Level concrete pads on a nice reservoir.  We stop here when we are nearby.  Our favorite Iowa campground.  

Beautiful place. Army COE and reasonable fees - we paid $18 for a site with 30amp electric, near playgrounds and showers in the A Loop. 

Not all sites have lake views or are on lake. However, all we have seen are well spaced and lots of shade trees abound. Very kind campground hosts. Close to Polk City for food or services. 

No water at most sites. There was an old fashioned water pump with modern fittings that let me fill my fresh water tank in a minute. 

Beautiful place to stay!  No water at site, but 30/50 amp electric. Park is well maintained. Sites are pads with concrete patio, picnic table, and fire ring. Senior discount pass made this a steal. Sites are large and well-spaced. Very clean.
