Newton KOA

Not uncommon to hear road noise but this park we could here every simil inside our camper.  Tight gravel spots. Only an overnighter but they had lots of property.

Normal KOA, 2 feet from your neighbor on either side. Profit over comfort.  Great staff, great service,  perfect for an overnight stay.  Kids can play and swim.  I’m not a fan of KOA’s

30 mins from Des Moines. Right on freeway, can be heard from campsites. Full hookups throughout winter. Bath house was clean most times. Laundry is dated and coins only. Sites are close together. My neighbors let their small dog use the back area, where my hoses were, as a bathroom and never cleaned up after him. Pretty quiet in the winter. 
Served it’s purpose while I was there on contract. 
- Walmart and convenience stores close 
- gravel sites, heated spigots, camp store but I never used it. 
- deer and chickens seen often. 
- Bath house is the lower level of an event venue. Weddings and parties on the weekends. Had to request the only shower left open for winter be cleaned after a long period without cleaning. Pleasant and accommodating staff. 

Our stay here was fine. Check-in was easy and courteous. We were escorted to our site. All of the staff that we interacted with was great. It seems like this park has an original section and then expansion sections tiered up a hillside. The original section is the only section with any mature shade trees. Our site, and it looked like the others in the tiered hillside section, were in full sun all day. We selected an upgraded patio site. It was spacious and the patio area was made from pavers. It was equipped the same as the other sites though, just a fire pit and a picnic table (that was in rough shape). Our experience at other KOAs is that the patio sites have some better patio furniture. The fire pit wasn't functional for cooking. The cooking grate was rusted and set about 1" off the bottom of the fire pit leaving no room for charcoal. Pool looked nice but we didn't use it. The bathrooms and showers were clean but the showers could use a place to set your dry clothes.

Lovely little park just off I80. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Neat and tidy. Clean rest rooms. Easy in and out. We’ll be back. 

Clean facilities, level gravel strips for campers, thin grass strips with picnic tables and fire rings. Some trees. Sites close together, could be tight when fully occupied. Loves truck plaza on other side of exit ramp. Definitely  noisy right by I-80. But convenient on and off when you are just passing through.

It had rained a lot before our arrival which is no fault of KOA. The sites are gravel and fairly level, but way too close together. We couldn't put our awning out as it would have hit the rig next to us. We won't stay here again.

Over rated at any price

easy in/out for our 38 ft fifth wheel but sites close together and high highway noise but lots of fun kids areas and nice pool

Traffic noise was VERY loud, however we knew this prior to our stay so we were prepared with a white noise machine to drown out the sound at night. Beautifully maintained KOA with dog park, walking trails, laundry room, etc. Very friendly and accommodating staff! Would definitely stay here again

This was our second stay here. It's a nice, well kept campground with friendly staff.
Traffic noise is pretty bad. It's right next to the I-80 and sits lower than it so you get a lot of noise.
And the spots are tight. 

This is a nice place! The check in was easy and the lady was very friendly.The trees in a couple of areas are a bit low and dragged along my camper. It's 13'4". The spots are tight getting into and out of. There is plenty of stuff for the kids to do. The only terrible part about this place is the darn interstate noise. 

Typical KOA, friendly, tight spots, great over night,  drop a star for freeway noise.  

Missed the turn because when making a left turn, the GPS does not differentiate between a road and a non-descriptive driveway. Down the road was a church with a huge parking lot so turning around was simple.

Very friendly. We were along the interstate and it was very noisy. we lowered the AC for the night to drown out the noise. WiFi was OK. Quiet, which to me is unusual because most KOA’s have screaming kids and barking dogs. The sites were relatively large and level.

As typical for a KOA... you are going to pay $50+ for the day.

We have been full-time for 2 years and all over the country and this was the worst experience we EVER had! We were put on top of a hill, new construction area that turned into a muddy mess, we had rivers in the mud during rain that we couldn’t go anywhere even if we had to!!!! Walking down to the main campground was not an option with the washed out roads. No sewer hook up, like we were promised, then told by an office employee, there will be a tractor to come around and dump your tanks until we get sewer, only to be told the day we needed to dump by the owner that, he wasn’t paying employees to dump our tanks. We had to do it, but we could just empty them on the ground! Told they were pet friendly but that we could not stay because of the bees of dog we had! Could not receive mail here, the office said we had to set up a P.O. box at the post office in town, very rough roads coming in and out, very tight spaces. Tons of road noise and the race weekends were VERY loud! They charge for everything in the game room, laundry was expensive. Very out dated. We will stay at Walmart parking lot if ever I the area again! 

Close to the I80 and Iowa Speedway.  The road into the park is rough and a bit industrial.  I80 road noise can be a bit loud at times.  After that, the park has decent interior roads with level sites and good placement of ESW.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  We stayed in a 37 foot motorhome with a tow.

Soooo much interstate noise. Besides that it was a really nice! clean, easy location on and off interstate. Bob and June were very nice and helpful! Even with the noise we would still recommend to stop here for an overnight

Convenient to the interstate, friendly and efficient check in.  Nice facilities.  Contrary to prior reviews, we did not have a problem with access for our 43 ft 5th wheel, but the entrance road is not in great condition.  Note to future Kampground designers: please find a way to orient campsites so the front of the RV is not facing southeast.  This puts the door side facing southwest, which means nobody can use their primary designated picnic tables, fire rings, etc during the baking heat of the summer (92 degrees at check in today).  I truly don't understand what's so magical about having your door facing southwest, but every single spot here is that way.  That should be a required disclosure.   Full hook up, pool, sites headed southeast.

The park is well kept, bathrooms good, nice playground, level lots, nice management. But, if you are a big rig and want a full hookup, those spaces are so packed, your slides are close to your neighbor's, you can not use your awnings, your picnic table is over the sewer connection of your neighbor and getting in and out of the space is very very difficult. If you can get an end space or do not want full hook up...those spaces are fine. We camped in a 5th wheel and will not go back due to the space issues. 

This park is clean and friendly. Bob and june were great host. The place is well kept and easy to find. We stayed overnight. 

The facility and staff were great. The site was decent size and pretty level. I would give it 4 stars but the noise from I80 was not pleasant. 

Clean and neat! Nice playground for kids. Clean laundry room with 3 washers and dryers. Nice fire pit   clubroom for activities - pool table, etc. We stayed in Class motorhome.  There is a Walmart within 1 mile from campground. Do get some road noise as just off I-80.
