Kearney Walmart Supercenter

This is a large property with room for any size rig or RV. The lots were clean, well maintained, well lit and fairly level. The store and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The store was well stocked and well staffed. There is an auto service center but no Murphys fuel station. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming, no wifi and 14 OTA television channels from my perimeter location. As always, I left my area cleaner than when I arrived and made an in store purchase to thank Walmart for allowing me to overnight. 

Signs posted say no overnight parking. We asked at customer service and were told campers were fine out on the perimeter of the parking lot. We stopped approximately 5p as a storm was going to be moving into the  area.  As the daylight evening hours progressed, multiple cars with single men, in various physical and mental conditions started arriving and parking by us. We were the only RV at that time. We had 5 older model type cars parked around us and at one point a very intoxicated man knocked on our door and wanted to “trip with us”.  It was actually getting very creepy being watched and no other campers came in so we headed down the road and found a great RV campground with after hours self check in. 

I requested permission to stay 1 night to the manager.  They said no problem.  Quite night, ounce the traffic is gone at night.

Not a whole ton of great places to park your rig, but you can probably get it done. Especially if you have a smaller rig - under 40ft. Spent a night late September 2023, a few other rigs were scattered about. 2nd Avenue on one side has everything you could possibly want, just drive down it a bit. There was a sketchy incident where an old Class A towing a van pulled in, then disgorged two or three women who went through the parking lot panhandling. Cops arrived to chase them out shortly thereafter and they never spared a second glance at our rig or the Class B that appeared to be spending more than one night there. 

Another excellent Walmart parking, I had a peaceful night. Buffalo wild wings was across the street. I had some wings and a glass of beer. I didn’t need to run my generator, the evening was cool happy trails.

There were about 5 or so fairly old RVs that looked like they'd been there a while and didn't plan on moving anytime soon.  Also someone living in their car.  So although we had a level spot by the road, we ended up leaving and going to the Cabelas in town instead.  We've stayed in many Walmart parking lots over the years, but haven't encountered anything like this before.

After reading the other reviews about how loud it can be, we were hesitant, but there were not a lot of great options around. Turns out it was very quiet! One of the wuietest Walmart’s we have been to. Yes, the parking lot is very sloped. The best bet seems to be right along the edge near the main road. 

Easy parking in nice location. Felt very safe. As others said it is challenge to park and be on level spot. We got there 6 pm so had plenty of space to find levelest orientaion we could do and was not bad. Does seem to be lot of boys showing off loud toys on the main drag next to lot....but for free overnight parking spot we were willing to tolerate it. 

We've been here many times in the past 4 years (it's Sep 2020 now) and it's always quiet!  The lot is sloped except for the run right along the outter main road is flat.  There are always several RVs here.  Mcdonald's, Hy-Vee, Dollar tree and gas all around in walking distance. It's a way off the interstate but who cares:-) The store is nice too.  

Thank you Walmart for the stop over on 12/27/2019 with our 23' RV.  The snow was kept at bay by the scrapers!

Liked everything about it but the parking lot.  While good size. Tough to find a flat spot.

We're traveling with two little dogs plenty of places to take a walk definitely the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in a Walmart a little bit of road noise and yes the farm boys with their toys but it was still a good place to get some rest

Farm boys and their toys.  The west edge of the parking lot is right on the main street.  Noisy pick-ups cruising most of the night. (Even Sunday)  But, as always,  the price was right. 

Nice Wal-mart and hopefully will be a quite night. There are several fast food restaurants within walking.  As I'm writing this another Rv has appeared.  I always feel better when several of us are gathered.

Nice, safe Walmart with good cell and, OK TV reception. Lots of dining options near by.
