Kansas City East / Oak Grove KOA

We have been stopping here for years and the park has gone downhill. It used to be a great park but now it is getting run down. There are a lot of permanent trailers that look bad and the grounds are not kept up like they used to be. There is even an old SUV full of boxes parked on the grass with tags that expired over two years ago and the grass has grown up around and under it. It is no longer worth the $90/night price. The next time we come through this area we will stay somewhere else. It’s a shame because this used to be a great campground.

A very pricey park. We stayed one night and with tax was $84!!!¡.  This is a much better park for kids than weary travelers.  Lots of time to correct very unlevel sites.

Nice KOA with nice people and sites. Big rig friendly and love and open.

They are continually improving this park.  Friendly and helpful staff.

On our way back east from Utah. Looking for a last-minute place to stay overnight. We showed up after hours, and the place looked full. Manager happened to show up around sunset, and we told him we needed a spot for the night. He was very accomodating when we encountered  vehicle problems that evening.

Got here and no cable so they moved us to a patio spot for no additional charge.  Nice people and constantly at pre picking up trash all day keeping it neat.  Some barking dogs in the mornings  that they really can’t control but all and all a nice place.

This was a nice place to rest for a couple of days.  Sites are packed gravel, some more level than others.  In order to level our RV, we had to disconnect, pull up on blocks,  and park in the back of our site. It sits right next to the interstate so expect road noise but other than that, very quiet.  The Truman Presidential Library is about 20 miles away but well worth the drive.  The BBQ place that delivers to the site is absolutely delicious but they have dine in option, and we loved talking to the young lady who was running the place!  We would definitely stay here again.

I am a full time RVer but just recently I have been staying with family to get back on my feet. I am a single mama and in hopes of getting back out there, I reached out to the oak grove KOA. I was told from a lady that the month to month is 850 plus electricity but she is not sure if the owner is taking anymore full timers this year and to check but next weekend. I show up the following weekend to a guy that tells me he is a manager. I ask him if they have an opening for a month to month, he proceeded to not give me a direct answer other than "we aren't that kind of campground". I asked if I could stay 3-6 months while I find my 5 month old another daycare. (Anyone who has kids and uses daycare knows how hard it is to find something without first being put on a wait-list.) The manager then asks me if I had been quoted a price for month to month. I do not give him a direct answer, I just say that I have been told general information the week before. He tells me it will be 1000 a month with electricity up to 500kwatts. As I said at the beginning of this review... i had been a full-time RVer for several years and I will tell you, even 850 is extremely high for the location, what they offer, etc. I lived in Vegas for a while and paid 450 a month and was a high demand area for the campsite that I had. 

All that to say, people will often show you who they are within the first conversation they have with you. This manager is not just grabby at money but he also threw the lady under the bus that I initially talked to and that was extremely helpful. He also said that the price could be closer to $1500  but honestly, at that point in the conversation I was tuned out. 

If you are reading this review and are trying to find a good place, there is a campground in Grain Valley that has a girl name Tiffany for campground booking that is extremely sweet. Give them a look :) 

Great overnight.  Made our reservation a couple hours ahead of time and when we arrived at the office there was nothing in the overnight box and office was closed at 5:00.  Gave a call and a nice gal confirmed our reservation and gave us the site number and where to get a map and off we went to our site.  Didn’t visit the facilities and there is lots of highway noise.  There are also renovations being done at the park.  We will return. 

Very nice and convenient overnight stop. Bath rooms clean. Well stocked camp store. Ice cream. Being a holiday weekend, camp was busy. Only issue was a little high on price.

Stayed 1 night. 40 ft Motorcoach towing. Some level sites which we lucked out. Mud due to rain. Not a groomed campground as I expected for the price. No curbside checkin as they advertise.  It was pouring rain when we came in even though I had completed online checkin.  Staff friendly. Dislike the fact you can't use the dumpster when needed. Not enough poop bag stations around the campground.   Dog campground muddy and not mowed. 

Gravel site not very level. Staff was nice, but we had to find site ourselves.  Typical Koa amenities.  Quiet.  Nice enough place.

Disappointing experience.  MANY seasonals, lots not paved and not very level.  When we arrived, 2 girls in a cart drove us to our site, did not speak a word to us.  When we pulled into our site we had to ask if we had pulled up enough and got a crude thumbs up, still not a word said.  So unprofessional and unfriendly and totally disinterested. Not much, if any landscaping and seemed fairly neglected. The dog park was good.  Would not stay here again.

This campground is not very good for the price. We have stayed in other KOA parks and not experienced these issues. The spaces are extremely close together. I can literally see inside the campers on either side of me which means they can see into mine. The site is not level.  We are across from the playground, so children and adults keep running and walking through our campsite despite an admonition in the instruction brochure not to do so. Someone is playing loud music as I write this review. I only hope they stop before quiet time in one hour. One positive is that the staff is very nice and helpful. I might recommend this park to families with children but not to couples.

Right off I-70 but not to bad Traffic noise due to dense trees.  Just spent Memorial Day weekend there and was full.  Pool was open and limited to 20 people, not a problem. Well kept park with friendly staff that will help to make your stay enjoyable. A very relaxing stay.

We only stayed one night but the staff was helpful and friendly.  The place is clean and well maintained.

We stayed there for 2 nights while visiting KC. It is close to the highway and you could hear it when outside, but didn’t hear it inside trailer. Park does have a PA system so severe weather announcements came over speaker. It was really rainy so we reserved one of the premium spots with pavers, furniture, grill and fire pit. Unfortunately with all the rain, we didn’t get to use any of it, but we commented that the pavers made it really nice to jump out and potty dogs quick in the rain and not get muddy and kept us from having to drag any of our stuff out. We didn’t have any issues leveling even though it is a little sloped. The slope is good though or else all the rain would have pooled. Staff was very friendly, kids enjoyed the clean pool and the jump pad. We really liked the dog park especially since it had two separate big runs so that we could use one with our 6 dogs and other people could use the other. Laundry was 24 hours and I liked that the security guard drives around at night and kept an eye on my daughter and I as we walked back and forth doing laundry at midnight. Roads are wide and easy to maneuver a large RV or Fifth Wheel.

Great time and great people. A few spots have some trees to avoid. Some highway noise.

This felt like an old KOA.  The spaces are pretty tight, really close to the Interstate, space wasn't very level, and pricey.  The WiFi was completely useless.  The other amenities were average.  Not a lot to like here, but there is not a lot of choices in the area.

Site was not level, hilly campground, not a lot of long pull thru sites. Lots of gravel thrown from passing campers onto our camper on our U shaped pull thru.

Checked in for an overnight stay. Close to KC a d BBQ! 
They give you complimentary earplugs (the only KOA we've experienced, in fives months of travelling, that has done this).... And you will use them. Our pull-thru site was on a hill, so leveling was a challenge (Silverado/32'TT) and a bit short, but we did opt for the no frills site) bathrooms/ showers were clean. Because of the noise, would probably not stay here again.

Right off the interstate, like so many KOAs, so there's some traffic noise. Staff was fantastic and the grounds were well kept. Mostly level gravel sites with fire ring. BBQ onsite available to order for delivery, alas we did not try the service but though it was a neat idea. Like all KOAs, sites we're fairly close together. It was perfect for a two night stay for our family.

We arrived for a late unreserved check in (3am!). All was well and we took the last site available for unreserved, so was happy about that. Issue was that upon morning park pretty much cleared out- I asked front desk about a 1pm check out so I could finish a little laundry and was shut out - told 12:30 latest as folks come in at 2. I asked if we had nothing out, just need to unhook electric could we push- answer was no- and additional employee came over at 12:15 telling us that reservation for our lot (a handicap dead front and center of park) had just called and was in the way.  I find it highly unlikely- just trying to get us out! We have done 30+ nights consecutively and this was the most unaccomodating of them all!

Great park.  Nice dog play areas.  Convenient on and off freeway.

We have a 34' class A w/Dolly needed p/t  the 1st site was not level we called the office they gave us another site.  The staff was very nice, helpful & friendly.  The campground was clean & maintained.  We were stay 1 night we stayed 2.  Would go back.

I agree. Very nice place all the way around. Showers, restrooms, laundry, pool are very nice. Only drawback is the i70 traffics but no worse then many other places. 

Stayed for 3 days while visiting KC. Lots were small for our 32 ft. Trailer. The facilities are clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are right off Hwy 70 so there is freeway noise. Nice place , wish it wasn't so tight for pulling a trailer.

We bought a new 5th wheel and are parked here monthly for a few months. The owner Joe and his wife are lovely folks! The staff is great! They come to our site and change out the propane for us when we request. We don't have to disconnect them or move them at all. We didn't have a carpet to keep dirt from getting tracked in our new home. Joe made sure they brought a carpet over to us! We had stayed here over Labor Day in our old camper. It was full then. We were treated very nice by all the staff then too. The families all were having fun. The bathroom/showers are immaculate! There is plenty of Kamp K9 room to roam also. Yes, it is just off the interstate in a convenient location, so you do have highway noise. But, that didn't bother us at all. The facilities and staff make the difference. Sites are very nice with fire rings and picnic tables. And nice shade trees also!

Not bad, well maintained. No wifi to speak of. Best part: a camper tied their dog to our picnic table and kept barking. Management addressed the problem right
 away. 

People are helpful and friendly.  Site was level and grounds were clean.  Only problem is traffic noise.  It is off of 70 however soon becomes background.  

New owners have done many improvements.  Beautiful.  Bathrooms are amazing.
