Iron Mountain Recreation Area COE

The price is right, but there isn't much more than that. Both myself and my neighbor got infested by ants (off season). There were only 3 people in this loop.  I have to say, i wouldn't go here.  Sites aren't level, roads are narrow...there are better options. The host was very good/nice

We paid $9 for one night for a campsite and 50AMP service. Hard to argue with that! Most sites slope to the back, so being in a 40’ Class A we were unable to get level in our site (#27). The campground is in the woods, so it’s beautiful. It rained all evening while we were there, so we didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit. The campground is dated. Some RV/camping pads are in need of repair. The bathhouse and shower rooms are old, but still functional. Some sites definitely needed weeds cleaned up. There was no firewood available for purchase, so we scrounged around unused sites and in the woods to gather wood…then it rained. For the price, we would definitely stay here again for one night while passing through. 

If you want a super nice FHU level site at the same location for a super high price, you should check out North Basin RV Park. It is located on a side road in between the two campgrounds that make up the COE Iron Mountain Campground. 

We just needed one night but had to reserve 2.  No problem since it was $9 with our sr pass.  Space was long and level. Road winds around to get there.  Only 50 amp at our site, no water or sewer.  Spot #1

I had a great stay here. 32’ motorhome. Easy access to the Iron Mountain mountain bike trails system. No designated swimming area/beach area. At certain campsites you can go down a slope to the lake. Bathhouse clean but older and rustic. Hot water showers. Two camping areas. One up on a ridge and some closer to the lake. Lakeside campsites are the shortest. Lots to choose from. Dump station near the front entrance right across from the entrance booth. No water hookups at campsite so fill up your fresh water tank and prepare yourself for a great stay at a beautiful and peaceful location. 

Small tent sites a few just a couple big enough fir rv, parking is a huge problem.  The campgrounds  are  beautiful but very uncomfortable  cramped place.
Wish the government would update the park

We reserved #16 based on pictures of the sites but found that it was too short and too sloped for our 25' Thor Axis 24.1.   Changing to site #11 was problematic as the reservation system wouldn't allow a modification,  even though there was a path... ended up canceling and losing half of our money and then reserving the new site.  The system is not user friendly and intuitive.   It has no instructions for using it. 
Our new site was okay but the outside table and fire ring area was unkempt and rugged.   This is by far the worst COE that we've camped at on this trip...it's our 5th. 
Perhaps they will clean it up and straighten things for the summer crowd. 

I love this place. I stayed in sites 31 for two nights on my way to northern Arkansas and on site 18 for two nights on my return trip. This is a really great campground. One thing to know you should fill up your fresh water tank before arrival. To me that is not a big deal. I actually prefer to not have to fool with connecting water if I’m only in a place for 1-2 nights. There are a few places to get water at the park but you need a water bandit and a really long hose. I prefer to just fill up my fresh water tank before my arrival. Again to me it’s not a big deal especially given the price of the campsites. They’re a bargain! I am glad to use a dump station and fill up with fresh water if it saves me money. 

No water hookups at any site!

Decent camp ground. We stayed here right after the CEO opened the park due to the COVID pandemic. There is only electric service at each site but water connections through out the park to fill you water tank. The rest rooms are decent. The sites are small and though the rev pads are paved, they are uneven and many are short. 

Nice campground. Very beautiful. Spots are very tight unless you have a small camper. Most spots are about the right size for Class C campers, but almost none are big enough for more than the smallest travel trailer and tow vehicle.

Love being surrounded by trees and near the Mtn bike trails.  The sites are nice and the bathrooms are clean with lots of hot water.  Electrical hookups only but there are water hookups to fill your water tanks.
