Iron Creek Campground

Getting to this camp was a succession of bad roads the that worse and more narrow the closer we got. Then we blew right past the camp because there was no sign for the camp. we wandered arounf in the woods for too long, ended up having to turn our trailer around on a logging road. We were just getting the heck out of these went we went past the only sign for the camp, facing the wrong way!!!!! The camp site was at an extreme obtuse angle to get into it. Good thing I have a ton of backing experience. Once in and calmed down, we walked around the camp that was in a rain forest with a glacial teal river. the toilets were vault of course. Cell and wifi were nonexistent being on the back side of the world. lol I do not recomend this camp for rvs, but tough young folks in their Subaru would probably dig it!!

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel and parked in site #C59 which is a dry, back-in spot. The roads/sites were all asphalt. Some had lots of heaving due to roots and such. The road to the CG (Rt 131/FS Rd 25) was very rough and really tossed stuff around in my trailer. Go slow…  The road in the campground was on the narrow side so it was difficult to get backed in. Other sites would have been easier (C60, D92.)  D Loop is closer to Iron Creek so you hear the water which is a nice benefit. My perception is that B Loop sites would have been easier to get into and had more open space to the sky for solar. My site was heavily shaded making the solar almost useless. There was no picnic table there, but most sites do have a table. It was very private with lots of space between sites. No dump station and water spigots are not threaded so come with full tanks. I really liked the park and it was not very far to the east entrance to Mt. Rainier and to the east side of Mt. St. Helens. No cell service, but there is a wildlife viewing spot between the CG and Randle where you can pull off and get good reception. I’d stay here again.

I haven't actually stayed here, but have visited several times.  It's a pretty big campground and nicely maintained.  No hookups of any kind, but seems to be VERY popular anyways.   The campground sits on a bend in the river and during the summer, it is a lovely place to take a dip in the water.  People have even made an area where the water slows and is deep enough to swim a few paces.   We camp down the road at Tower Rock Rv Park so we can have power, but they don't have anywhere to swim/wade.

So incredibly beautiful, well maintained, and peaceful! We've been on the road for almost 4 months now and this is the best campground that we've ever stayed at! Paved sites with a nice spot to cook/hangout in pretty much every site. A really pretty 1 1/2 mile trail that circumnavigates the campground with access to a lovely river. The researveable and walk up sites are equally great, which is so nice. Wonderful camp hosts! No hookups, but well worth being off the grid for awhile! The water was unavailable while we were there, but it meant half off camping, so was $10/night! What a deal!
