Fruita Welcome Center

Signs in the bathroom building state that you are welcome to stay up to 10 hours as long as the car is not unattended and you don’t “camp”. Bathrooms were decent. Was very convenient for me as a quick overnight stay in my car.

Great spot.   No camping but fine for overnight with clean, warm restrooms.   

I arrived pretty late, just in my car. In June 2022.

One review tells one thing but I am here and there is a sign on the door to the entrance of the bathrooms that reads, no overnight parking, no camping and something else, so I am out of here looking for a place to sleep tonight.  

Clean,quiet, friendly staff, good dump station,nearby restaurants, clean bathrooms and park for kids.  Recommend 

Beautifully maintained,  clean and lots of parking. Free dump station and water. Trains running all night but the noise isn't bad.  Stores and restaurants within walking distance.  A great place to rest before getting  back on the road.

Wonderful facility including dump/water.  Easy on/off highway and several dining options. Ran our generator and had no issues.  8/2019

This place is great! Free Fresh water fill up, garbage and Dump station! Sweet! 

I was going to use their dump station. The entire welcome center and dump station is closed. State park next door told me that the welcome center has some kind of sewer problem. They didn't know when it would reopen.

No overnight camping

Very clean and well-maintained two-lane and FREE dump station with both rinse and potable water. Excellent water pressure. 
I've used this facility dozens of times and recommend it highly for dumping your tanks. Plenty of room for even the biggest rigs.

I have not used the welcome center facilities at all, so I'm just rating the dump station. 

Strictly enforced. No exceptions.

I am so disappointed with the less than hospitable welcome that I experienced at the Fruita Rest Area this morning. After driving my (newer) 40' motorhome and tow vehicle 400 miles, I arrived late in the evening and was completely exhausted. I had really been looking forward to stopping at your Welcome Center to gather information on winter camping and sightseeing. 

When I started my generator at 5:45am I was approached by a DOT worker and told that starting my generator constituted "camping" and that I must leave. He said that I had one hour to vacate the premises or else he was going to call the authorities to issue me a citation. 
I was by no means camping! My slides were not out and my jacks were not down. 

My only intentions other than resting was to visit the Welcome Center, speak to the liaison, and gather pamphlets and maps. I was told by the worker that I could not wait for them to open. I would have to leave and come back.

Never in all of my travels across 50 states have I been treated so poorly by a city worker. Not only is this man incapable of differentiating a squatter from a snowbird, he did it with a very indignant attitude of which I do not appreciate. 

Obviously the state of the economy is such that Fruita does not need the disposable income that retirees have to spend on tourism, so I personally will absolutely never bother returning to inconvenience you with my patronage. 

Great location that is easy to get in and out of. Both potable and nonpotable water and very high pressure. Rest area is clean and has a welcome center and dinosaur museum close.
