Elk Creek Resort

Overpriced. Sites aren’t level. Slow wifi. Limbs need trimming. Quoted $40 for PA but honored the $35 listed on PA app. 

Sadly neglected park. Grass not being cut and never trimmed. Picnic tables with peeling paint. Verizon service at 1 bar. Extra fee for dogs ($5). ???? 
Grassy level site. Quiet with no road noise.

It's a quiet place but there's no cellular coverage for data or even text availability. We left a day early without even asking for a refund.

This is a beautiful property and very convenient to Rapid City. But I don’t feel like they are maintaining it well. The sites themselves need a little TLC, possibly weed control and more gravel added. The shower house is just OK. Trash is not picked up, cigarette butts are everywhere. My biggest concern was the laundry room… I’ve never seen one that filthy in my 20+ years of RVing

We excitedly found this place last minute after being un-happy at the RV location(pretty much just an open hot field) 10min closer to Sturgis. 
$35 w/out discounts. The woman who answered the phone & checked us in was very kind & accommodating, she gave us a choice of sites to pick the most level. The kids loved the pool which was nice & clean. They had laundry(a few machines needed servicing but we were happy they didn’t close the doors late in the evening). They have several broken bathrooms on the outside of the building but very functional ones inside that had nice water pressure & were clean.

We stayed in their ‘behind the mountain’ site.  Nothing there but a washroom (did not use).  Back in 43’ and had plenty of room because we were really in a field with full service.  Temperatures that week were over 100 degrees so we mostly went out of the park to see Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Needles HIghway, Crazy Horse.  The Steak house at the exit was a great surprise.  It looks like they are not busy, but the food was the best we had on the trip.  You may want to ask to stay by the office where they have a pool and some amenities.  

A group of six RVs stayed in the campground for a week very nice people we stayed in the campground over the hill very quiet very remote would stay there again our next trip out west

Stopped for an overnight and it seemed expensive for what you got. No sewer hookup and our spot was not even close to level. Spots were all grass, but hard packed - it rained that evening and we had no problem with traction. Staff on premises, they were very friendly.

We stayed for 3 nights under Passport America for only $72! The campground roads were rutted in the early spring. Check in was smooth and welcoming. Laundry facilities were reasonably priced and exceptionally clean. The area was so beautiful and far enough from the interstate to be wonderfully quiet!

Stopped at Elk Creek for overnight stay while traveling. Service was good at front desk with clerk asking if I had any type of discount. (did use AARP). For overnight use it was reasonably priced and although sites are close together, it was quiet. We opted for full service. There are sites with only water and electric. Bathrooms are older but clean. They did provide s hair dryer in the women’s bath. I would not care to vacation here but for overnights it hit the mark and not far from the interstate to boot. 

Place is very pretty and spacious. Check in was very smooth and people very nice. 

The Elk Creek Resort in Piedmont, SD is beyond unacceptable!  On March 25th we received email confirmation of our reservation for a one-night stay on May 18th. When we arrived in the late afternoon on that day the first thing that happened is that the person in the office was unable, even after several tries, to charge our stay to my Visa. As we were very tired after a long day’s drive I wound up paying cash to move things along. Then, after parking in out assigned spot, both my partner and I wanted to use the bathroom. I discovered two men’s rooms, one of which was locked, the other being open but out of service and without working lights--I couldn’t see a thing with the door closed. My partner found a similar situation in the Women’s bathrooms: one out of service, the other working but with an adjacent shower section without any working lights. I went back to the office to try to straighten things out and found the person who had been there had left. A note on the door, however, had three phone numbers for guests to use in case of problems. I called the first number and got voicemail. I called the second number and again got voicemail. The third number resulted in some kind of phone company message that I didn’t listen to. We then left.
The next day we called to try to arrange a refund. We were told by whoever answered that they would have to “check with the boss” and that they would call us back. When no call had come by the middle of the next day we called again and were told the same thing—they would check with the boss and get back to use. Again, no return call. We called a third time the following day and were for a third time told the same thing. We never did receive a return call. Elk Creek Resort is far and away the most poorly managed place I have encountered. In addition, to stiff an unsatisfied customer for a $28 fee shows very poor business judgement.
