El Dorado State Park

Every cove is different. The ones on the west side seem windy every time I’m there- maybe that’s why the sailboat club is over there. 
Check out the rock quarry and jump off if u have time, usually a party during summer weekends. 
There is a cute little store in goose cove. Most hookup sites are not on the water. Open air showers are dated but not bad in the summer, if u don’t mind bugs:) 
Things to note- 
*they don’t allow dog fences. Also give hefty fines for pups off leashes. 
*golf carts are $50 annual- resets Jan 1st. Can’t have carts out after dark. 
*swim beaches are nice but ur allowed to swim anywhere. No dogs on beaches. 

Very friendly hosts, large park with lots of sections. Need to know what section you site is or you will drive around for miles.  Good signage for sections.  Very nice laundry.  Has a little of everything. Archert, shooting range, swim beach, FHU sites, tent sites. Very clean. 

Very clean with friendly and helpful staff. Site was ready, preregistration online, stop @front gate, get window sticker, drive to site and setup. Only concern for some maybe Big Pine, loop 7 doesn’t have much shade.

  Called and made reservation for our stay.   We're told site XXX in campground YY.  When we arrived there was no gate guard,  as expected during the Covid-19 situation but a large map by the self pay station. No site XXX listed on map - only two digit sites but we head up anyway. 
  Found our assigned site (three digits up there) but it's marked reserved.
  Found camp host,  he takes the time to tour the campsites and finds two alternatives for us not reserved. 
  We set up eating dinner and the dreaded knock on the door...... our site IS reserved!  Arrangements are made,  new guy takes our OLD site (THAT reservation was canceled).
  The site we reserved first was open for us and we were given some one else's. 

  Power pedestal and water located on opposite side of site.  Have long water hose or extension hoses. 

Note: THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE CAMP HOST! He was pleasant and tried to be helpful at all times.

This is one of the worst state parks we have been in. We have stayed at state parks all over the country. We were told we could only go into one area, when there are open sites in 4 other areas. Told to pay the camp host , couldn't find them, looked for 2 hours. When I asked the person at the gate, he said "if you couldn't find them, don't worry about it, and if you leave before the host gets back, you don't have to pay". There was also a large parity in the area that we were in, large parity ten, sound system, after we got set up we found out there was going to be a wedding with over a 100 people there. We packed up as earlier as we could the next morning and left without looking back. By the way, I don't have the time to go into the bathhouse,  it was a joke... open air and little hot water

Open all night with self check in. We made reservations online. Easy and not far off the interstate
