Dodge City KOA

Stayed there the night of Oct. 26, 2024.  No WiFI.  Outlying washrooms were closed.  Wanted a shower on the morning of the 27th.  No hot water in main building.

This RV park was VERY disappointing! I have to say the staff could not be nicer. The facilities were awful, no WiFi except in the building. Road noise, grain silos were loud and a train passes close to the park. The worst by far were the showers! I had never seen a control that was just a button to push which was on a timer that shut off every couple minutes while you were waiting and hoping hot water would come out of the tiny shower head. Water never got beyond lukewarm. I would NEVER stay here again.

I arrived at 10:30 am. No one in the office. hours said 10-5. They had a note on the door that gave you a phone number to call when it was answered. It was a Holiday Inn. She gave me my site number and I parked myself. went to walk the dog and a park or something was behind dog park, men playing volleyball? 
I asked the camper beside me. He was getting ready to leave if he thought it was safe. They spent one night and he said they were leaving, they walked yesterday afternoon when they got there they did not feel all that safe and did not advise it. I just had a weird vibe about the place, nobody in the office. Nobody really walking around the few campers that were there and trash cans, overflowing.. I googled is it safe to stay in Dodge city and it said all bad things, not one of the best places in there country, dangerous, just not good. Being a single traveler, I decided to unplug and move on. I just didn’t feel comfortable. It’s a shame because the town has some nice history and I’m sure during the summer when there are people there. It’s probably OK but I went with my gut and left.

Good place to stop for an overnight.  No shade, clean, level spots, 

The park is fairly new and is located close to downtown.  The sites are large and there is a lot of grass and trees around the sites.  There is a railroad track behind some of the sites but we didn’t hear any trains go by.  Very clean and well kept up.  There is a laundry facility that was very clean and had several washers & dryers.  We would definitely stay here again.

Clean campground, walking distance to historic downtown and restaurants. Cement pads. No wiFi. Big dog park. Close to train railway so you will hear it. Okay for overnight stay.

This was a bit of a disappointment for a stay.  Didn’t look like it had been mowed in weeks and bathrooms were closed.  The trash bins were so full you couldn’t really throw anything away.  WiFi was terrible too and it’s the middle of town so no reason for that.  Don’t think I would stay here again!

Have stayed at many KOA campgrounds.  This is the worst!  Wi-Fi doesn’t work, south bathrooms are closed which wasn’t explained to me when we got the site (w/out sewer knowing that the bathrooms were very close) . No patio table at our site ..appears it is in the next site..no offer to move it for us.  Park is unsecured and see young adults parking inside the park and walking over a berm towards ?? . The power and water worked fine.
When I called the office to express my disappointment in the above, no offer to do anything.  The patio table which was sitting in the next site was so warped, it was unusable but still should has been at our site THAT WE PAID FOR.  As to the bathrooms being closed..OH YEAH, GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU.  Only open ones are at the office and our site was not close.  Not very convenient to have to trek across the campground to use facilities THAT WE PAID FOR when one was directly across the street.  Trash receptacles were overflowing and I did not see one staff member other than the check in person.
This park does not meet expectations of KOA, especially when anyone can come in, park and use facilities.

Could use some mowing and trimming. Here at end of May and had not been mowed yet it appeared. Office and restrooms, laundry were emaculate. Nothing else offered. This park is in town and is not secured , restrooms are not locked by coded doors, when staff is not around  witnessed several people from city park using restrooms. One person just walked in and pitched a tent, not sure if he was supposed to be here or not?? You are very close to downtown of Dodge City and walking distance to very nice water park. All hookups at site plus cable TV. 

Good KOA.  Large sites, quiet and very friendly and helpful check in guy.  We loved being close to downtown as we walked over and had a fun pizza dinner at Dodge City Brewing and then walked down the street to the Distillery and were delighted with the history of the town from a fantastic bartender.  We walked around town for a bit before returning to camp to watch a lightning storm in the distance.  Would definitely stay again!

Just one night but it was great, flat level sites, new;y built, host were great, did not use showers, close to historic area of Dodge City, nice dog park.  Will use again if in town

When made the reservation I voiced my disappointment that there was no pool. Was told there is a water park next door.  On arrival, water park closed. It is mid august and 08 degrees. Why would they close the park.   There is only one washer. Except for the abundance of flies the park is fine. Big pads. Dog park. Host nice but not very friendly. 

Typical parking lot RV park.  Level sites, extra large sites, small trees, reasonable priced laundry-$1.50 to wash and$1.00 to dry.  Easy walk or bicycle ride to Boot Hill Museum, restaurants, distillery, and brewery. Good for one night stay.  Did not use showers or interact with staff.  If the wind blows a certain direction you will smell the stockyards but it’s Dodge City and that is normal around here 

The facility seems new so everything is looking good.  We had a paved pull thru that was gigantic! The park is next to a county park including the largest dog park I have ever seen.  It is literally the size of a football field and all grass!  
Because it is new, the trees are quite small so almost no shade.  We would stay again.

Clean campground, level sites and super high water pressure. Close to Dodge City.

We camped at Dodge City KOA Journey in a Motorhome.

Relatively new campground.  Perfect location for our Dodge City Days adventure.  Very clean and friendly staff.  Level sites with full hookup and well manicured.

We stayed one night and didn’t use the facilities because we are self contained. It’s not the nicest KOA I’ve ever stayed in, but good enough for an overnight ER before heading on down the road. There is a big water park right next door. 

We stay here twice a year as we come and go for Arizona Winters, this place is really going downhill. Today we arrived with reservations, there was no one in the office. That's not particularly new, but there wasn't a packet for our reserved check in. While I was looking for our packet that didn't exist, another camper arrived and found the same situation. This place is almost completely consumed by long term long setup campers. And it's starting to look trashy around here. Too bad. This really had potential to be a nice campground for traveling RVers. I understand long-term rentals, but I don't understand sacrificing an appearance of quality to the whims of long-term residents. (And don't bother  logging into their Wi-Fi)

This park was a walking distance from the tourist items we wanted to see.   It was clean and the concrete pads were awesome.   Perfect for a day or two stay to see the sites.   The wifi would never connect but we travel full time and let's face it, wifi sucks at most rv parks so I didn't expect much.  Actually as far as KOA's go this is one of the better ones we've stayed at.   Thet are typically made for smaller campers and tenters, so this one that could house bigger rigs was a nice surprise.  (32 ft w/tow).  And, it's the cheapest FULL hook up site (so far) we have stayed in coming across country from Washington state heading to Florida.   Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed one night . I will never stay again. The showers were filthy. There was one inch nasty water on the floor . Terrible

No place is perfect, but this newly branded KOA has the advantages of being clean, super close to a dog park, and with a really friendly host. 24 hour shower and laundry, though the drains in the shower aren’t positioned on a downhill slant, which seems picky until you are standing in inch deep water trying to dry off. Walking distance to main part of the town, and close to a rails to trails walk and the petting zoo and other park facilities. The dump stations have power washers, but are positioned on the passenger side at the exit so you have to turn your rig around assuming your dump stuff is on the drivers side.

This would have been a nice park to stay at but what a waste.  The wind was blowing so hard you could not put out your slides.  Very pricey to just sit in RV and do nothing.  Could not even enjoy satellite TV.  GPS does not provide correct directions.  So be careful.  Cost $45 for a pull thru for one night.  Park is brand new and pads our cement.  Water pressure only 40psi.  There are no discounts provided.  Credit card machine was not working so had to pay cash.

What’s not to like about this new RV facility. It meshes in well with the adjacent water park, hotel, picnic, recreation and small zoo complexes. All sites are either large concrete pads or gravel. Very level. 31 sites are full hookup, 21 of those are pull through. Rest of RV sites are water/electric. Separate dump station near exit. Plus there’s a special section of tent only sites. And, 10 camping cabins with kitchen, bath and bedrooms. There’s a storm shelter, propane, ice, laundry, showers (spotless), restrooms and store. Not many trees yet (they’re planted and growing). The wide spacious sites are a welcome change from many campgrounds. And you’ll appreciate the close proximity to downtown and the attractions offered here. I’ve read the complaints about prices (we paid $45 - no Good Sam discount). But spend the extra couple of bucks and enjoy the amenities of this superb park (otherwise, you belong at Walmart). We stayed 1 night in a 30’ Class A w/toad. This will be a permanent stop on our trips through Dodge City.

This relatively new RV park, within a 10-15 minute walk of Boot Hill and downtown Dodge City, has many attractive features. The main building houses a store, a laundry (2 washing machines and 2 dryers) and toilets/showers. Two free-standing restrooms serve double duty as storm shelters. Wifi was reliable during our stay, but cable was inoperative. Our neighbor, who had been there three days, said that the cable had never worked and that the Wifi was intermittent. When I inquired about the lack of a cable signal, I was advised by the check-in staff that the manager assured us it was working. When I assured her it wasn't, she later called me and said their "cable guy" was in Colorado, so there was nothing she could do.

I have deducted two stars for this service failure and for the high price ($53 dollars, with no GoodSam, AAA or other discounts available).

The park is adjacent to a city park, a water park and a large, fenced municipal dog park - although the dog park is mostly featureless and was of little interest to our dog. Given that this is western Kansas, stickers are everywhere throughout the RV park, although they seemed to be less of a problem in the city park and the dog park. It was sad to see the once mighty Arkansas River (adjacent to the park) now just a huge, dry ditch.

I just finished paying about the same amount for a RV resort in CO, and it was much nicer for the money. There's no scenery, just slabs, or more common, gravel sites. 
Very few pull throughs. I asked for a pull through because we didn't want to unhook. They gave me a back up, short site that required a truck be parked to the side. Half the pull through sites were open. If it weren't for that fact, I'd give them a 4.  $46 for that short back up site was ridiculous, especially when there were plenty of empty pull through sites

First off, they up charge when there are functions going on in town. $52 per night.  No pool, no site privacy, fragrance from the little zoo can get a bit strong. That being said it has nice level cement sites and large dog park, walking distance to town, cute cabins and special tenting area. Over all, over priced for what you get. 

This place is brand new. RV sites are large and level with w/e/s hookups. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table too. Plenty of room between adjacent sites. RV park is owned and operated by a incoming hotel which is under construction just to the North. This park is right in the downtown area so you will have alot of downtown noise and activity. Large park with a zoo boarders the East, a water park boarders the North and a RR track wraps around the West and South boarders. Freight Trains do come thru slowly, blasting horns!! But being in the heart of the historical district has its pluses. You can find dinner, drinks, shopping and sightseeing on foot. No car needed! Pricey at $46/night. Also, security might be a concern because of all the exposure to non-campers who do walk and drive thru this park. Very clean and very modern. Showers were aggravating as the water sprays for only 15 secs. at a time. Weird considering water at all sights flows freely!😏

A beautiful new park run by some very nice helpful people. It was so welcoming to have the host come out to greet us as when we pulled up to the office. The location is perfect for traveling sightseers like us. Our sight was a pull thru long concrete pad to accommodate any size rig with tow. FHU with excellent wifi. They are very pet friendly with a huge dog play area. I noticed 6 very nice looking cabins for rent as well. Staff is very knowledgeable & helpful about the city. The manager told us there is a storm cellar that will accommodate over 100 people which is very comforting in this storm prone area. The bathrooms were spacious & spotless.  We will tell anyone we know to stop here when in the area. We stayed here in a 40'MH & hope to return.
