Devil's Den State Park

What a nice collection of CCC work. It was fun to see the craftsmanship of the 1930’s.  The road into the park was narrow, winding with low hanging branches. We took the north entrance and it was still a challenge in a 40 foot motorhome. In fact, we wouldn’t do it again. The south entrance is full of switchbacks and should not be attempted on a motorhome. In fact, the roads around the park need to be repaved, lots of potholes and eroding pavement. The campsites have nice spacing, but needed to be checked for litter and the campfire ring was full of trash. The campsites were frequently patrolled by park rangers. The bathrooms were clean and daily maintained. No cell service. Hiking trails were well kept and there were all levels. The cafe was open and could be such a cool experience considering it is in an original building. The food was barely okay and the space needed cleaned. This park has a lot of cabins and they looked very nice. There is a swimming pool near the main area. They were working on improvements near the main area when we were there. This park could be a five star with increased upkeep. 

If your camper is over 20 feet make sure you take Exit 53 from the highway instead of exit 45 due to the switchbacks.  Also the Visitor Center check in has limited parking.  If you are headed to Fort Smith on departure take Highway 220 out of the park….good road and scenic.

Stayed for 3 nights. A more difficult park to get into. Staff at gift shop said all of year’s reservations are full by February. Some FHU’s. We were backed up to the creek. Woodsy. No cell or satellite service here. Needed to drive over to pool area to use wifi. We have a 40’ and had very limited options. 
NOTE: There is a north & south entrance. USE NORTH ENTRANCE 

We stayed in the south loop of area E (I think space 97) in early August. This space, as many were, was a bit tight due to trees to back our 25 footer in. We watched some truly amazing parking jobs of bigger rigs in other spaces. The north loop is a bit more open. 

We loved the atmosphere in the South Loop very friendly. The North Loop seemed a little rowdier and louder.

Overall the park was excellent. Some trails were closed, like the fossil trail. And covid affected a lot of activities in the area. Unfortunately we were not there during a "wet" time, so we did not get to observe the waterfalls, even though we hiked that trail. Bring lots of water on your hikes.

Cell reception was almost non-existent except up near headquarters, and at the overlook. Wi-Fi was available near the headquarters.

If you have a trailer longer than about 20 ft, definitely take the North route in. The south route is full of steep hairpin turns and even two trucks passing is tight. No gas in the immediate area, so gas up before you come in.

Definitely would consider coming back if we were ever in the area.

You will not be disappointed! IT is a bit tricky to get to, loys of curvy roads, but well worth it!

Outstanding campground. Get a spot along the creek. It’s just a few yards away on some spots. Great place to spend the hot afternoons with your feet in it. Lots of cool
East hiking nearby. No cell service but does have WiFi option (but I liked this). HUGE sites and lots of public space. 

Larger rigs have to come in from the north end which adds some time to the journey in but well worth it. One of the better places we’ve camped yet 

Love this park!!! only stayed 2 nights wish we could have stayed longer.. clean bath house, clean laundry and the park has beautiful trail and water falls and caves to explore. We will come back soon I hope

Love this place. Beautiful hikes. Pool for everyone. Fun times. Can’t wait to visit again. Fun for whole family!! 

Great place for people of all ages. Park is clean and peaceful with lots of shade. Can’t wait to visit again.

Level sites, quiet with ample shade and full hookup.  Only stayed one night, did walk a short trail next to the creek, great views.  Can’t wait to go back!   

With three years of travel behind us I can say this is one of the best state parks in the Country. Lots of room for rigs big and small. Full hookup and level cement pads. Clean bathrooms with outstanding showers all for $25!  No cell phone coverage (which can be a good thing) but we did have strong enough free WiFi to download a movie... We stayed in site E 80. There was plenty of shade there too.
If that works qsnt enough the hiking trails are fantastic. Left nature, there are few if any guard rails or other distraction from the natural wilderness. Don't miss the Yellow Rock overlook and the Devil's Den trail. Of course the staff were great too. Truly a must stop on any travels near the area...we certainly will come again.

Bathrooms were cleaned every day. Paved sites that were clean. Full hook up. Beautiful park in ozark mountains. We enjoyed local entertainment in West Fork. Enjoyed the natural surroundings. Peaceful and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Campground sites are spacious. Full hookups are a plus. Lots of shade. WiFi spots are close to bathhouses if that's important to you. Cool trails. Bathrooms were clean.  They also came around & checked trash bins several times a day.  They do have a pool (additional cost) but they close from 2:30-3:00 for "lifeguard switch".

Camping was so peaceful and quite.   Camp sites were clean and well shaded.  Love love the trails 

Have stayed here many times. Park is well kept, and beautiful
