Coastal Dunes RV Park

Between the highway and the railroad tracks. Loose dogs, incessantly barking dogs, dog waste everywhere. No place for kids to play except the access road. Sites  tiny and not very level. We had to move our neighbors’ stuff to even get in our site, then they kept bumping into our coach. We never saw any enforcement   Won’t return 

Road noise all day and night. Bunch of construction going on. Caution tape all over from work sites. Campsites all badly rutted. Road itself is badly rutted. It was so rough that stuff got tossed out of our fridge. There was no hot water available for some reason, but we got no discount off the $53 fee. The sites were close together, <4' between. The power pedestal had 20A and 30A service, and the picnic table/firepit was a shared setup. The toilets were unusable because they were so dirty. Overall, the campground was a pretty bad choice, but everything nearby was full. We found out later that we could have boondocked on the beach for free (plus the $10 park entry fee.) We really wish we'd gone anyplace else. It was pretty disappointing.

We stayed for 4 nights, Tuesday through Friday. The key is stay midweek because weekends are way too crowded. Or site backed up to the RR but the train doesn't come often and it didn't bug us. It's a short hike to the ocean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are basic and clean. It isn't luxurious but it's run by SLO County so what do you expect? Other reviewers didn't have many nice things to say, but we really didn't have any issues. We'll stay there again in the Fall.

If you do not mind being packed in like sardines and are not concerned with needing to get out in an emergency this place is ok doe you. 
If you love ATV's and don't mind the above or dessert dirt rate this place is great for you. 
There needs to be a law about how many cars, trucks, trailers and RV's can be in one site. There should be rules on not parking to close to the street. This is what makes it so dangerous. I had trucks next to me and across the street. I would not be axle to get out without making two move. 
We were for forced to stay two nights when booking too 

The staff was very friendly, the sites to the south are not very level had to use several blocks under the front tires to the point I had to go to Walmart and get a one step, step stool for the steps, my buddies front tires were 6" off the ground, the train runs directly behind the camp although I slept through it, there is free additional parking along the fence directly across from your campsite.

With all of that said I would go back this time prepared to level quicker this time.

Nefarious activities common. It even makes the news occasionally. 
SLO county should be ashamed. Pass this one up.

First of all the good.  You are close to the beach. Coastal weather, beautiful. The park is clean and the sites all have grass. Now, the bad. Sites are cramped and the road is barely a vehicle and a half wide. They allow tent camping with multiple vehicles mixed in with RV sites which leaves little room to maneuver into and out of the 90 degree sites. We were woke up @ 3 am by a truck trying to get a trailer backed into their site next to us. They could not without my truck and two across from us moving. Some one at SLO Parks needs to do a better job planning site reservations.
