Big Woods Lake Campground

Easy pull thru and back in sites on level gravel pads. Grass, but no trees. RR & highway to east. Good wifi. Only negative, 4 "family" bathroom/shower stalls were like concrete vaults. So hot 🔥 🥵 and not always clean. This was an emergency stop for us so we arrivied with no reservation. Self check in was easy. Glad to have found this county campground next to a lake.

It appeared most full hookup sites are reserved, or ability to reserve.  We were able to find a spot in the back towards the lake. Looked to have a nice path around the lake,  but we didn't get to stay long enough to explore.  Largest drawback was the highway noise.  It was  loud, noticeable at night.  Having a large rig, it was pretty easy to get in and out.  

This gem of a park is an inexpensive ($18 for a power site, $25 for full hook up), county run park with over 50 spots.  We had no reservations and no trouble finding a spot on a Friday evening.  We stayed in a power only site in a loop by the trees.  The sites are pretty level and on grass.  We did not use the bathhouse so I cannot attest to its quality.  Our neighbors and the camp host were very friendly and I wouldn't mind staying longer and walking the trail around the lake.  There are train tracks right behind where we camped but were not bothered by any noise.  Great stop! 

Cliquee little group that won't move their cars so you can have hook ups. Bathroom had been vomited in...probably last night.  Pass this one by. 

The good: quite, safe, large sites, beautiful lake 
The bad: recycled asphalt at campsites is very messy with black stuff all over my dog and tracks everywhere. shower houses not cleaned daily and dirty. Grass was brown and dead, no shade campsites- tiny trees. 95% of the campers were locals and not very friendly compared to other campgrounds. I’ll try someplace else next time we come. 

We had to cancel our stay and we received a email stating that they DO NOT give refunds. So they got us for $ 64   

Nice clean level gravel spots.  Clean restrooms/ showers, cleaned and sanitized 3x daily. Campground host very friendly and helpful. 

Lovely area - clean sites - trains roll through at 2 am and 6 am...

We stayed a week in a class C.  Full hookups.  Clean and well maintained bathhouse and grounds.  Some sites are directly on the lake.  Plenty of room between sites.  Did not feel crowded even though the park was close to full.  The best part is a paved path that goes around the lake, or you can bike into the awesome historic town of Cedar Falls, which has restaurants,  shops, and bars.  The path to downtown is about 2 miles (one way).  

Stayed last year and came back this year. Clean shower and bathrooms.
